Have you ever been on a company or group page and felt like you were being hit over the head with buy this, download this, go to this posts?
ME too and I am sure in the beginning of my social media life, back when myspace was the best thing in the world, i was guilty of doing it too. But there are steps for making a good social media post, whether for you or a company and I am here to give you some tips (this is for company pages, but you can adopt some of them to personal pages)
TIP 1- its not about you, it is about your audience. No one wants a ME, ME , ME page. Think of it as an online magazine (thank you Hillary Rushford at Dean Street Society for that very visual explanation. Figure out who your audience is and why they are here. Become a storyteller, your posts should educate or inspire.
TIP2 - Videos get the highest engagement rate, so don't be afraid to get in front of the camera!
TIP3 Use the polls, contests and comparisons(like/share) to spark audience participation. Like i said last post, what is the point of having a ton of followers if only a few engage in your posts.
TIP4- Check out your competitors and what they are doing. Learn from them and improve
TIP5- Use eye catching photos. You don't have to be a professional photographer to take good photos. There are tons of videos on blogs just on this subject, for cameras and phones. So get your learning on!
TIP6 Spell check. Auto correct can make the best speller a lazy speller. There are extensions like Grammerly to help (thanks Julie for showing me this!)
